About

A historian of modern India with a focus on economic life, labour, and the cultural textures of Bengal.

Mr. Rahul Saikh is an Assistant Professor in History under the West Bengal Education Service (W.B.E.S.), serving at Rani Indira Debi Government Girls' College, Jhargram. He joined the service on 20 August 2019.

His work sits at the intersection of economic history and cultural history — studying migrant labour, the history and literature of Bengal, and Muslim society and culture. He has presented at international conferences of the Paschimbanga Itihas Samsad and published in refereed journals and edited volumes.

Across more than a decade of teaching — in both school and college classrooms — he has remained committed to regional history and the narratives of labouring communities often left out of the mainstream record.
